In the context of the current exhibition in Kunstraum Innsbruck INVASORIX, a queer/cuir feminist collective stationed in Mexico City, talks with the curator Ivana Marjanović about their artistic and activist practices.
The exhibition A HAUNTING FROM THE FUTURE presents two installation of INVASORIX: Macho Intelectual I Intellectual Macho and Me duele la cara de ser tan güera / My Face So Güero [White] It Hurts.
The art world is known for its great inspiring personalities, be they “men” or “women”, who abuse their charisma and charm to humiliate, silent, and dominate others. In Intellectual Macho, INVASORIX say NO to these intellectual power games under the guise of “progressive” thinking, and propose solidarity instead of competition and censorship.
My Face So Güero It Hurts is a reguetón song and an activist karaoke installation that thematise “lo guero” i.e. the construction of Whiteness and White privilege. The racist concept of Whiteness was the prerequisite for colonialism and it still dominates contemporary, post-colonial, global, capitalist societies. INVASORIX join the voices of struggles against this destructive discourse on planet Earth.

En el contexto de la exposición actual en el Kunstraum Innsbruck, INVASORIX, un colectivo feminista queer/cuir estacionado en la Ciudad de México, conversa con la curadora Ivana Marjanović sobre sus prácticas artísticas y activistas.
La exposición EINE HEIMSUCHUNG AUS DER ZUKUNFT [UNA APARICIÓN DEL FUTURO] presenta dos instalaciones de INVASORIX: Macho Intelectual y Me duele la cara de ser tan güera.
El mundo del arte es conocido por sus grandes personalidades inspiradoras, ya sean “hombres” o “mujeres”, que abusan de su carisma y encanto para humillar, silenciar y dominar a lxs demás. En el Macho Intelectual, INVASORIX dice NO a estos juegos intelectuales de poder que se presentan como de pensamiento “progresista”, y propone la solidaridad en lugar de la competencia y la censura.
Me duele la cara de ser tan güera es una canción de reguetón y una instalación de karaoke activista que aborda “lo güero”, es decir, la construcción de la blanquitud y el privilegio blanco. El concepto racista de blanquitud era un prerrequisito para el colonialismo y todavía domina las sociedades capitalistas contemporáneas, poscoloniales, globales. En el planeta Tierra INVASORIX se une a las voces de las luchas contra este discurso destructivo.
