CAHIER 002: SILKE WAGNER, BÜRGERSTEIG
Cahier 002: Silke Wagner, Bürgersteig brings together for the first time all sources, materials, and legal disputes surrounding the participatory art project Bürgersteig, which was realized at various locations in Germany between 2001 and 2002. In collaboration with civil society initiatives such as “aktion fluchtwagen” (Münster), a VW bus was transformed into a vehicle for political communication, artistic action, and social networking. The history of the bus is representative of the visual approach to the results of social phenomena and conditions created by society. As part of a book presentation, art historian Karen Van den Berg and artist Silke Wagner are now exploring this history.
The concept of the “Cahier” series aims to hear voices other than those of academia or criticism. “Cahier” wants to make the voice of the studio legible. It brings together previously unpublished material on artists and works from the Modern Collection of the Tyrolean State Museums. “Cahier 002: Silke Wagner, Bürgersteig” (edited by Sofia Ohmer and Florian Waldvogel, Modern Collection of the Tyrolean State Museums) will be published in December 2025 by DCV as the second edition of the “Cahiers” series.
