From the middle of March to the end of the exhibition, a huge candle
with sixteen finger-size wicks measuring 100 x 100 x 180 cm and
weighing several tons will burn in one of Innsbruck's main squares
(Landhausplatz) as a call to vigilance. As its burns and attracts the
active involvement of passers-by, who are explicitly invited to relight
any wicks that may have been extinguished, the sculpture continually
changes its shape. Subject as it is to this process of change, the
sculpture exists in a direct relationship with time until the ultimate
loss of function.
